Boswell leads the Battle of the Wagon Wheel series 3-1
.
Pioneer Pride Fact
The 2009 squad continues to build on the success from 2008 by making the playoffs for a second consecutive year. The Pioneers battle cry becomes "fight past midnight" in one of the wildest games played in school history. In week three Boswell travelled to Alvarado to face the Indians on night were the game end in dramatic face at 12:01 A.M. due to heavy storms in the area. The start of the game was delayed as officials made the decision to play. The Pioneers faced a much improved Alvarado squad and the game was fought between the 20's as both teams struggled to put points on the board. After a lengthy half time delay the Pioneers took a 19-12 led deep into the 4th quarter. With on a few seconds left to play the Indians travelled down to the 1 yard line on 3rd down. Head Coach John Abendschan substituted his largest player on the team at nose guard, Kevin Williams. The normally offensive center stepped in and stuff the Indians big running back at the line of scrimmage. Then as the drama unfolded and the both crowds going wild, Coach Abendschan again anticipated a rush by the Indians up the middle, and again Williams stopped the drive short of the goal line to end the game. The Pioneers also took a 3-1 series lead over Saginaw High in the Battle for the Wagon Wheel with a 41 -21victory in week 9. In the bi-district playoff game the Pioneer hoped to avenge the loss in 2008 as they faced Denton Guyer for a second straight year at Dragon Stadium in Southlake. Boswell jumped out to an early lead, but the Wildcats proved to be too much and cruised to a 59 - 28 victory. Standout Players for the season included QB Quinton Gregory, WR Jacob Stone, WR Devin Duke, RB Dante Lipscomb, LB Jeffrey Hutto, OC Kevin Williams, LB Obidi Ekwulugo.
