Pioneer Pride Fact

Boswell players continue their assault on the record books as Cameron Mavroulis becomes the All-Time leading receiver in school history with 2,032 career receiving yards. Perennial power house Aledo enters the district and runs the tables on their way to a state title. Coach John Abendschan challenges his high school alma mater (Abilene Cooper) in week 2 as the Pioneers put up a valiant effort against the Cougars in a 21-42 loss. The game is closer than the score board indicated and the Pioneers gain confidence despite the loss. Boswell also takes a 2-1 lead in the annual Battle for the Wagon Wheel against Saginaw High with a 34 - 17 win. The Pioneers make the playoffs for the second time in three years under Coach Abendschan, but fall short of winning the bi-district championship against the Denton Guyer Wildcats. The game ended with a 13 -21 Pioneer loss after a contraversial call negated a Dante Lipscomb touchdown in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter. Other Pioneer standouts during the season included DB Kirk Harberts (46 Tackles, 1 sak, 1 int, 1 ff), DB Tony Walker (27 Tackles, 7 ints), QB Quinton Gregory (2,764 Passing, 26 TDs), WR Michael Shufford (40 cat, 555 rec yrds), LB Emeka Ekwulugo (46 Tackles, 10 for loss, 6 saks), Kicker Ronnie Alford (8 FGs, 46 long), OL Kevin Williams and OL Logan Hoppenrath.
