Pioneer Pride Fact

The sophomore year for Boswell Football in Class 5A was not kind to the Pioneers. By far the most dismal season in school history and the first winless season ever, the Pioneers fought hard against district teams with superior talent as they struggled under their third coaching regime in the last three years. Coach Spike Harlan and staff gave a valiant effort to develop a winning attitude despite a limited timetable to work with. There were a few highlights worthy of mention; Receiver Jerremy Barber had a great year with 24 catches for 521 yards and four touchdowns, including an all-time record catch of 90 yards against Grapevine in week 9 and the first Pioneer to snag three touchdowns in one game versus Heritage. QB Dillon Smith passed for 975 yards and added another 281 on the ground to lead the team in total offense. Matt Baker had an outstanding year punting the football. He punted the pigskin 57 times for an average of 36.9 yards per kick with at least seven punts exceeding 50 yards including his longest of 63 yards against Fossil Ridge. Sophomore Greg Hutto had a great year on defense, recording 57 tackles  including 3 for loss. Adam Aguiliera led all defenders with 71 tackles and 5 forced fumbles and received a Division One scholarship to play for the Air Force Academy. No Boswell players received first team all-district honors for the first time in school history.
